Persona Generators?
Learn how to use the tools in this website

Explainaton Hello everyone! I'm Walker, and I run Desco and Kotoha over at Destiny Strings. I'd like to talk to you about something that apparently a lot of people are having trouble with - creating a Persona using the Persona Generator! Let's start with the basics, shall we?

Okay, so! That first text box is where you put the name of the Persona. Write in caps! Second text box is for the information link, which is a link to a wiki page or image that describes whatever the Persona is. This can be nearly anything, not just things from mythology! Just as an example, we've got Persona based on video games, movies, TV shows, and even old memes!

The Arcana box is how the Persona is classified, and can be a little tricky to figure out. Here's a good general rule, though: pick whatever term you think fits the Persona. Is it a historical king, for example? Emperor is a good idea! Was that king known for being a cruel and petty tyrant? Then maybe you'll want to click the little box underneath and make the Persona Reversed Emperor!

Some things to remember: Despite the name, Strength is not the Arcana for physical force - Chariot is. If it's something associated with space, Aeon is a good idea! Beyond that, Justice represents law and order, not punishing evil. You might also want to check out this page for Arcana meanings!

The three text boxes at the bottom are for when you're creating a Soul Persona for your character's personal use - just fill out the name of your character, your character's journal name, and leave it at LVL 1 unless your character has a Persona in their canon, in which case it should be LVL 2.

Next up: Elemental resistances! Now, it's perfectly alright to just skip this part, but it'd be kind of a shame, since it's so easy to do. There's several ranks to resistances - Strong means you take less damage from it, Block means you don't take any damage, Absorb means it heals you, and Reflect means it rebounds on the caster. Then, think about the Persona you're making. Is it based on a robot, for example? Then you might want to set Physical to Strong (punching metal hurts you more than it, right?) and Lightning to Weak (robots short-circuit). You can do a lot of things with this - you can give it two Weak and two Strong, one Reflect and two Weaks, or one Block, one Strong and three Weaks, just make sure you stick to a coherent theme!

Now, the two check boxes beneath that: Click the first box if you want to make a Support Persona, and leave it unclicked if you want a Combat Persona! We'll be covering the differences between Support and Combat Personas in a little bit. The second box is for the special final skill your Persona learns - it can be something selected from the drop-down list like all the other skills, or it can be something you make yourself, usually a normal skill with just a minor tweak. For example, any skill that inflicts a status can be tweaked just a little to inflict a different status - Rage instead of Poison, Happy instead of Ego, that sort of thing. Remember, if you're not going to make your own skill, click the button!

Alright! These are the skill lists for Combat and Support Persona, which means it's time for Persona Differences! There's two kinds of Persona, Support and Combat. Support Persona are used by characters that want to help their friends, while Combat Persona are used by characters more comfortable directly fighting. This is one of the big divisions between Persona users in Destiny Strings! Both are equally important and have no bearing on whatever combat abilities characters come with - it's based on their personalities, not their powers.

Now, each kind of Persona has a list of eight primary skills, and three secondary skills - for Combat Persona, they get eight battle skills and three passive skills, while that is reversed for Support Persona.

When you first get a Persona, only five of their skills are active - the first four of the primary, and the first of the secondary. By using your Persona in logs - it doesn't even have to be for battle! - you'll unlock more skills! As far as choosing skills go, just click on the skill slots to bring up a drop-down menu, and try to keep to a theme. It's perfectly permissible to have a friend look it over, as well! Most of this is fairly easy to do, but there is one skill slot that can cause a lot of trouble - the Mutation Skill. You'll notice it beneath the eight primary skill slots. Mutation Skills are special skills that are currently only usable during certain plot events. Because they're so rarely used, they're a lot stronger, and you're left to come up with what they can do yourself. This is a lot of responsibility, and is often considered the hardest part of making a Persona! When making a Mutation Skill, a trick I use if I can't think of anything else is to take two different skills and mash them together - for example, one of my characters has a Mutation Skill that combines the skills Agilao and Fire Break. You could also swap out the type of damage a skill does, or make an attack hit two times in a row instead of just once. Since these are just the most basic things you can do, they're a good fallback!

And now that you've filled everything out, all you have to do is click the Submit button and you'll be given an HTML code to display your Persona with!
